Update On George

Thursday, we heard from George's 2nd scan, unfortunately the news was not as good as the news after the 1st scan.  While we were hoping for another reduction or at least no increase, apparently the cancer has become a little more aggressive and has increased about 6% over the scan at the end of April. This is still about a 19% reduction from where we originally started. There are still two areas of concern - lung and the liver.  The chemo treatments he has been taking apparently are no longer working as they did in the beginning.  So next week he will start a new chemo treatment which he will take for the next 9 weeks. Chemo for 2 weeks then off a week and will have 3 cycles of that and then they will rescan, while he has felt fairly well over the past few weeks, working most days and not having many side effects from the chemo. Please continue most of all to pray that this new treatment works and continues to reduce the tumors or masses and also pray that the side effects will continue to be minimal.  Pray for his spirit and his overall quality of life from day to day.  Matthew and I will be leaving for Centrikid Camp on Monday so pray for us too.  George and McKenzie will be camping at home together.  Thanks continue to lift us all up in your prayers.

Tuesday June 21st

Just a quick update on the Quinns. George has his 18th chemotherapy treatment this Thursday and then we will rescan on June 30th and get the results on July 7 and will find out from the doctor how we proceed from here. He might give George a break from chemotherapy for a few weeks but we really will not know until then. He is doing fairly well working about 6 hours each day. Went fishing last week with his sons and even mowed the yard on sat morning. Our sad news of the week is that we had to put our long time dog and friend to sleep this week. He was a great dog and we miss him already but at 13 and 1/2 years he was having some difficulties. Thanks for all your prayers and continue to pray that the treatments are working and the results will be good news. We also want to praise the Lord for a great Vbs last week at Old Fort.

Vacation

We are having a great time on vacation in palm coast Florida. Condo is awesome beautiful view of the ocean. 2 gorgeous pools and the best part it is not crowded. Yesterday we went on a tour of st. Augustine which was interesting. Kids loved the hands on fort experience. Today Matthew got to feed the dolphins at marine land and shook "fins" with her too. Now he wants to swim with the dolphins...told him he would have to get a part time job. George's brother Lance came over and visited for 2 days. All mckenzie wants to do is hang out in the pools and play on the iPad. Weather has been great... 2 more days and then back to the real world. Until then I will keep on relaxin!

Praise the Lord!

We had a follow up doctor's visit today to find out the results of George's CT Scan and Praise the Lord the cancer has not spread and overall there has been a 25% reduction in the size of the tumor.  The doctor said this was great news.  George is gaining weight again and has gained 13 pounds since January, his appetite is good and still few side effects from the Chemo.  He will continue treatments for two more months and then will re-scan at the end of June.  Depending on the findings at that time we will decide whether to continue another round of chemo or possibly take a break of a few months to give his body a rest from the chemo and then would probably go back on chemo again to try and continue to reduce the tumor. George has been working at least part time most days and overall is feeling better than he has in months.  We want to thank all of you who keep us in your prayers daily and hope want you to rejoice along with us at another great thing God is doing in our lives.  Continue to keep us in your prayers and continue to keep George in your prayers that the treatments will continue to go well with few side effects and that the cancer will continue to reduce.  We serve an Awesome God!

Spring Break Vacation

It has been a good 5 days with family in Myrtle Beach.  The kids had a great time. Wonderworks was amazing and one of everyone's favorites.  We also went to a Hollywood Show at the Palace Theater.  Went to the beach, pool in the hotel, shopping and lots of food.  Probably too much food. Will have to exercise twice as much this week.  Weather was great after the Saturday drive in.  Other than McKenzie running a slight temp one day we had a good spring break vacation.  Now it is off to the mountain of laundry that always follows a vacation.  One of my favorite things about vacation is just watching my kids laugh and play and have a great time...(notice I did not mention anything about the fussing or aggravating that occurs on vac). George did great too...a little swelling in the leg tonight but all in all he felt good.  Tomorrow is Chemo number 12 and then he gets a break next week.  Next Thursday - April 28th is when they will rescan and see what effect the treatments have had on the cancer.  The doctor is very hopeful it will be good news just based on the external results we are seeing.  He is lined up to do two more months of chemo - May and June and then will scan again to see the difference.  Just keep praying that all is good results.

Birthday Week!

Well, we survived Birthday Week at the Quinns. Matthew's birthday is March 28th - he turned 11 years old this year and will be graduating 5th grade in May.  How fast time flies!  I'm so proud he is my son - God has great plans for him and I can't wait to see what the Lord has in store for his life.  March 28th is also our official Gotcha Day for McKenzie.  We celebrated 4 years of having  our adorable China girl in our lives this year and then to finish up the week - April 1st is McKenzie's birthday - she turned 7 years old this year.  What a Blessing!  Birthday weeks can be exhausting not to mention costly but we've been to Frankies' Fun Park, Wild Wings, The Bowling Alley, Pizza, Chocolate Chip Cookie Cake, Hello Kitty Cupcakes and a Chocolate Hello Kitty Cake. More games and toys....Birthdays are fun, but most of all Thank you Lord for sending us 2 of the most wonderful kids in the world.  We are so blessed.

George starts his 4th round of Chemo on Thursday, just continue to pray that the treatments are working and that through the chemo - God is healing his body.  We will know more after this cycle and they re-scan late April or the 1st of May.  He did get to come off the lovenox shots last week and is only on the cumadin for blood thinner this week.  Let's hope that is working too.

Thanks everyone for all your support and prayers.
